Local MSP Highlights £39 Million Paid Out to Families in West Lothian Since 2021

Local MSP for the Linlithgow Constituency, Fiona Hyslop, highlights new figures showing that over £39 million in Scottish Child Payments have been paid out to families in need in West Lothian since the payment was launched in 2021.

Following the passing of the Scottish Government’s 2025/26 Budget, the Scottish Child Payment will increase to £27.15 per week for each eligible child from April 1st, 2025.

Commenting Fiona said:

“The First Minister is clear that one of the key missions of his Government is to eradicate child poverty in Scotland and this year’s Scottish Budget takes clear steps to achieve this.

“I am proud to be part of a Government that is choosing to support children and families across West Lothian and this milestone achievement of £39 million in Scottish Child Payments provided to families in West Lothian shows the Scottish Government’s commitment to supporting families.

“As we continue to deal with the rising Cost of Living this support, which is only available to families in Scotland, is essential and I am pleased to see the Scottish Child Payment will rise to £27.15 per week from April 1st.”
