Constituency MSP Welcomes Health Secretary’s Visit to At John’s
Health Secretary Reiterates Services Commitment at St John’s Hospital Visit
Monday, 01 July 2013
Local Constituency MSP, Fiona Hyslop has welcomed the Health Secretary Alex Neil’s commitment to services at St John’s when he visited the hospital on Thursday. (June 27th)
Fiona said;
“I welcome the Health Secretary’s strong on-going commitment to paediatric and emergency services at St John’s Hospital and was pleased that he was able to meet with the hardworking staff at St John’s during his visit on Thursday.
“The Health Secretary made this commitment very clear and I hope that this will reassure the people of West Lothian of the support that exists for St John’s Hospital and the dedicated staff who work there.”
After his visit to St John’s Hospital in Livingston, Alex Neil said;
“It was good to see for myself the first class services provided at St John’s Hospital, particularly in Accident & Emergency and the Children’s Ward.
“The two local MSPs, Angela Constance and Fiona Hyslop never miss an opportunity to tell me about how valued and needed St John’s is to the West Lothian community.
“Staff in the Children’s Ward took time out of their busy schedules to tell me about the range of services they currently provide and how the newly recruited doctors will help to do more for local children. The dedication and expertise of A&E staff was impressive and the number emergency medicine consultants has doubled, very important given that 3000-3500 patients a month attend A&E.
“The are always challenges in health but I am confident that St John’s Hospital will go from strength to strength and has a long term future as an acute hospital at the heart of the community.”
