Fiona is Guest of Honour at Thrift Shop Sale Launch
Local MSP Fiona Hyslop has attended and officially opened the sale of donated products to raise money for ASHI – a West Lothian based humanitarian charity which is dedicated to local and international issues. The opening took place at the Home Aid Thrift shop in Bathgate which AHSI have leased until April 29th.
After the event Fiona said;
“I am delighted to be officially opening ASHI’s fundraising sale in Bathgate. ASHI (Association of Serving the Humanity International) are a very dedicated charity who work hard towards the relief of poverty, the advancement of better health and education and ultimately the saving of lives both locally and internationally. They have already raised funds to deliver clean water to 600 Ugandans and they aim to do this for a further 20,000 people in Uganda.
“The charity is run by a small group of volunteers and so they give their time and efforts freely. I am happy to support the dedication of Chairman Mr David Olwa to ASHI and the good work of his charity.”
ENDS
In January this year ASHI completed its initial humanitarian project by wholly funding the installation of a deep borehole (water well) that provides clean and safe drinking water to a village community of around 600 people plus many thousands of travellers in Bala Sub County of Northern Uganda.
