Hyslop Signs Age Scotland Pledge
Fiona Hyslop, SNP Member of the Scottish Parliament for Lothians has signed Age Scotland’s pledge to champion the needs of older people in Scotland. Scotland’s population faces unprecedented aging due to a declining birth rate and the retirement of “baby boomers.” It is estimated that that within 20 years there will be 1.31 million people at or above the State Pension Age, an increase of 35% on the current number. As such Fiona Hyslop has pledged to tackle ageism throughout our society and to ensure that everyone is treated equally regardless of their age. Commenting on the pledge Fiona said; “It is vitally important that we remember West Lothian’s changing dynamic.
