Local MSP for the Linlithgow Constituency Fiona Hyslop, is calling on Bank of Scotland to reconsider plans to close their Linlithgow branch, after the announcement from Bank of Scotland.
Commenting Fiona said;
“The closure of the Linlithgow Bank of Scotland branch will be a huge loss to the town, and I would urge Bank of Scotland to reconsider their position on the closure of this branch.
“The Bank of Scotland Linlithgow branch is a facility needed by not only local residents but also many local businesses.
“In 2017, we seen the closure of the Royal Bank of Scotland’s Linlithgow Branch and this closure is another disappointing blow for the town. The Bank of Scotland facility is needed by not only local residents but also many local businesses.
“Bank of Scotland have advised that a Banking Hub is planned for the area, however I have raised my concerns with Bank of Scotland as I understand that a community banker who can serve Bank of Scotland customers will only be available one day a week.
“This will be disappointing for customers and staff, many of whom may now be worried about their future employment.
“I would encourage Bank of Scotland to listen to local residents and recognise that despite changes in the way we bank there is a continued need for face-to-face provision as well as cash withdrawal and deposit machines in Linlithgow.
“I have written to Bank of Scotland to express my concerns following their announcement and will ensure my Constituents are updated on their response to me.”
